Follow the mentioned steps to prevent Edge at Startup:
  1. Launch Start.
  2. Search gpedit.msc and tap OK.
  3. This will start the Local Group Policy Editor.
  4. Go through the following route:
  • Computer Configuration
  • Administrative Templates
  • Windows Components
  • Microsoft Edge
  1. Double-click on Allow Microsoft Edge to launch at system startup when the system is unoccupied, and
  2. every time Microsoft Edge is stopped policy, present on the right side.
  3. Choose the Disabled icon.
  4. Tap Apply.
  5. Tap OK.
  6. Double-click on Allow Microsoft Edge to launch at Startup and every time Edge is stopped the policy.
  7. Choose the Disabled icon.
  8. Tap Apply.
  9. Tap OK.
  10. Restart the system.
How to Prevent Microsoft Edge at Startup Using Registry
You can use Registry to prevent Microsoft Edge at startup if you are unable to access Group policy
editor.
Follow the steps to do so:
  1. Launch Start.
  2. Search regedit and open Registry.
  3. Follow the given path:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Policies-Microsoft
  1. Right-click on Microsoft, choose New and tap on Key.
  2. Provide the key with a name MicrosoftEdge and hit Enter.
  3. Right-click on the new key, choose New and tap on Key.
  4. Provide the key with a name Main and hit Enter.
  5. Right-click on the new key, choose New and tap on DWORD 32-bit value.
  6. Provide the key with a name AllowPrelaunch and hit Enter.
  7. Double-click on new DWORD and fix the value at zero.
  8. Press OK.
  9. Right-click on the Microsoft folder, choose New and tap on Key.
  10. Provide the key with a name TabPreloader and hit Enter.
  11. Press OK.
  12. Right-click on the new key, choose New and tap on DWORD 32-bit value.
  13. Provide the key with a name AllowTabPreloading and hit Enter.
  14. Double-click on new DWORD and fix the value at zero.
  15. Press OK.
  16. Restart the system.
After following these steps, you will be able to restrict Edge from launching at Startup.
