How to Permanently Delete or Deactivate Twitter

Twitter is fun, useful, and even uplifting sometimes. However, it has its own list of cons as well. For whatever reason, if you are considering leaving the platform forever, then you will be glad to know that it is possible. Witter allows users to not only deactivate but also delete their account forever. In case you change your mind, then you can restore your account, provided that the grace period has not passed. Let’s explore the process of deleting Twitter.

Things to keep in mind before proceeding
The reason behind which you wish to delete your Twitter account is of no importance. On the other hand, you may want to ensure that the deletion is permanent. Thankfully, it is not too difficult to ensure that your Twitter account shall remain closed on a permanent basis.
Interestingly, Twitter offers a grace month window. This means that when you delete your Twitter account permanently, then you can still restore it within thirty days. However, in case you do not reactivate it, then your Twitter account will get deleted permanently. Although you will still be able to restore the media using recovery tools.
Deleting or Deactivating your Twitter Account on a Computer
  1. Open any web browser on your computer.
  2. After that, go to www.twitter.com.
  3. Then you need to log into your Twitter account.
  4. After logging in, move to the upper right corner.
  5. Click on your profile.
  6. Select Settings & Privacy option.
  7. Now, click on the Account tab. It opens by default.
  8. Locate the Deactivate your account option.
  9. Click on the option mentioned above.
  10. Go through the warning.
  11. Click on the Deactivate button.
  12. For confirmation, re-enter the Twitter account password.
Your account will get deactivated for thirty days. If you do not re-activate it in thirty days, then it will get removed permanently.
Deleting or Deactivating your Twitter Account on Android
  1. First, open the Twitter app on your smartphone.
  2. After that, click on the profile icon.
  3. Now, you need to select Settings from the list of options.
  4. After that, select the option called Account.
  5. Here, tap on the link for deactivating your account.
  6. Now, you will be asked to input the Twitter account password.
  7. Once more, touch the Deactivate button.
  8. When the prompt comes, give your confirmation.
Deleting or Deactivating your Twitter Account on iOS
  1. First, launch the Twitter app on the iOS device.
  2. After that, hit the profile icon available on the left-hand side.
  3. From the menu, select the Settings option.
  4. After that, tap on Privacy.
  5. Select Account.
  6. Now, you need to select the option for deactivating your account.
  7. Once the prompt shows up, provide the password of your Twitter account.
  8. One more time, click on Deactivation.
  9. When the confirmation comes, tap on Yes.
Twitter states that even though the account gets deactivated immediately, certain content from the deactivated account might be visible on the platform for a couple of days. In case one wants to make a new Twitter account using the same username or email before the grace period is over, then they will have to change the email associated with their current Twitter account before deleting it. Or else, they will have to wait for thirty days.
